 1 .Russian Blue cats are curious but calm, affectionate but not clingy, and very smart. They can be shy at first, but they are playful and loving once they feel comfortable. While they are happy living with families and even other pets, Russian Blue cats tend to form a deep connection with only one person. It's not necessary person who feeds them. They appreciate interaction much more than just a food.

2. Russian Blue Cat, commonly referred to as just Russian Blue, is a cat breed with colors that vary from a light shimmering silver to a darker, slate grey. The short, dense coat, which stands out from the body, has been the breed's hallmark for more than a century..The eye colours can be only green.  Recently breeders created  White, Black or even Pointed RB cats, but they are not recognized in most of  feline organizations.  It's named Blue - Because it's Blue!

3. Russian blue cats are highly intelligent and require physical and mental stimulation, so it's important to give them access to toys at all times. They retain a strong hunting instinct, so a feathered fishing pole toy is the perfect plaything. Consider storing these types of toys in a cat-proof spot because: (a) your kitty will tear it to shreds, and (b) she may eat the feathers and/or the string, neither of which are good for her digestive system or overall health.

4. Old Russian folktales consider Russian Blue cats as perfect luck charms. It is even said that one of these unique cats once saved an ill Russian prince from his impending death! They are favorites of European royalties and were also used to ward off evil spirits from the kingdoms. In fact, Russian Blue cats were often given a place to sleep in nurseries to protect the newborn royals!

5. As a wild cat, the Russian Blues retain a high level of hunting instincts. This means you will need to provide plenty of toys and mental stimulation to keep them happy. Laser pointer anyone? If they are left outside alone, they may try to catch a bird, lizard, or other small prey. Unfortunately, this is how many cats become lost. So it is best to keep them inside, and to cat proof your yard!

6. Russian Blue cat’s wild genes also make them very healthy. Unlike other common house cats, RB cats rarely suffer from kidney issues or UTIs. In fact, with regular veterinary check ups, and quality ration your Russian Blue cat can live up to 20 years!

7. While many cats pride themselves on being clean and spend many hours grooming themselves, the Russian Blue takes it to the next level! Their plushy, thick hair means that they require extra attention to their coats. So you can help your cat out by brushing him once or twice a week. The Russian Blues are also notoriously fussy about their litter boxes - it’s best to keep them impeccably clean, or your cat may find a new place to go.

8. These beautiful cats are a naturally occurring breed that freely roamed the wilderness of Northern Russia before becoming domesticated. Many believe that sailors brought the Russian Blue cats aboard their ships sometime around 1860. The friendly felines provided lots of love to their new found companions and quickly became a favorite in the Archangel Isle ports. This is why they are sometimes called Archangel Blues.,

FAQs

Q:  Is this breed good with other pets and children?

A:  This breed is great with other pets unless you have rats or mice. They are natural HUNTERS! Some RB cats do not let their claws out while playing with kids or adults. but make sure your child don't obuse the cat thinking this is a plush toy. 

Q:   How do I know I won't get allergic reaction to the kitten?

A:   Honestly, you won't know until you run tests. RBs are low allergenic breed, but every person (condition) is different. Try before you Fly:))

Q:   Do RB Cats like to swim ?

A:   Nope. Cats don't like water. You can try to get then interested by playing with water toys, but don't expect them enjoy the splashing.

Q:  Can they walk on the Lish?

A:  Yes, absolutely! There are some training technics to teach cats walking on the Lish. 

Q:  How do I get my new kitten feel good and like me?

A:  First of all remember that your kitten just left his mommy and misses her a lot. It might take few days to feel safe and relax. Their sense of smell is much stronger than Human's. They hate all smells of soap and perfumes. You may consider spray Feliway on your cloth and in the room you're bringing your kitten. NEVER spray Feliway ON THE CAT! Play with your kitten! Laser pointer or cat-teaser  would be a great solution to start. 

Q:  What type of food is better for our new kitten?

A:  Cats are predators., in nature they eat what they catch. Household cats eat what they get from their Human. To keep them healthy we'd advise to keep them on premium food (if it's dry or canned). Otherwise consider sticking to the raw diet which gained huge popularity due to health benefits. It depends on personal choice and comfortability of your Fur Baby

Q:  How do I train my kitten to stay out of kitchen counter?

A: We use " hissing " followed by strong No-no for new cats and kittens at home. It works, but.... Kitten might jump there at night time or when you don't see, especially in case you leave kitten bowl , or any attractive food, whether it's yours or kitten's. Cats hunt at night and they will do anything to find the pray. First of all they will check all places  where food comes from. 

Placing aluminum foil or sticky tape on the counter or table may help in some cases.

Q: Do I need experience with Cats to qualify for Russian Blue Kitten?

A: Nope, There is no requirement from our side in experience if you want to get your kitten. We provide full support and share our experience and knowledge  with our Royal Sterling Families.
